Chelsea in pole position to seal £75m transfer as ideal alternative to Manchester United’s Anthony Martial

Chelsea are reportedly in pole position to seal the transfer of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as they look in need of a replacement for Willian.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Blues look the favourites to sign the £75million-rated Zaha as Tottenham have pulled out of the deal due to it being too expensive.

The Ivory Coast international does look a tad overpriced for that fee, though he has been an impressive performer at Palace in recent times and could surely do even more at a bigger club.

The Mirror’s report mentions Willian attracting interest from Manchester United and Barcelona, so there could well be room for Zaha in Maurizio Sarri’s squad for the new season.

Another report from the Mirror has linked Willian as perhaps being involved in a swap deal involving United forward Anthony Martial.

However, the young Frenchman has been an inconsistent performer and may be the more risky addition, while exchange deals are usually too complicated and therefore quite rare anyway.

It’ll be intriguing to see how Chelsea do choose to improve their attack if Willian ends up moving on, with new boss Sarri known for improving attacking players like Dries Mertens in the past.

The Italian tactician could then work wonders with a talent like Zaha, who seems at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing under the right manager to take himself to the next level.

Chelsea fans, who'd be your ideal replacement for Willian?
