Bid rejected: Barcelona see €50m plus player swap offer for Paul Pogba snubbed by Man Utd, says journalist

Barcelona are reportedly far from done in the summer transfer window as they’ve seemingly set their sights on Paul Pogba next.

The Catalan giants have already enjoyed a busy market with Clement Lenglet, Arthur, Malcom and Arturo Vidal being officially unveiled by the club.

Given that they’re coming off the back of a campaign in which they won a domestic double in Ernesto Valverde’s first season in charge, those additions could help Barcelona launch a new assault on major honours in the upcoming campaign.

However, as per respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, it’s claimed that they’ve set their sights on Man Utd midfield ace Pogba, albeit a €50m bid plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes in exchange is said to have been rejected by the Red Devils.

Ultimately, United would surely be reckless in opting to sell Pogba so late in the window, giving them no time at all to sign a suitable replacement for the French international with three days to go until the deadline passes for English clubs.

In turn, that would seemingly make any chance of a Pogba exit from Old Trafford very slim, but that hasn’t been enough to put Barcelona off from making their move and trying their luck, as per the report above.

Further, Man Utd finished 19 points adrift of rivals and eventual champions Man City last season, while their defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup final ensured that they ended the year empty-handed.

Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred have arrived this summer in a largely underwhelming window in terms of being able to bridge the gap to their rivals, and so losing Pogba would undoubtedly be a huge setback for them which makes rejecting Barcelona’s advances extremely sensible.
