€40m Man Utd target set to make imminent decision as deadline and Barcelona exit looms

Man Utd and Everton are reportedly set to find out who Barcelona defender Yerry Mina has opted for on Thursday ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Colombian international struggled to establish himself at the Nou Camp in the second half of last season, failing to displace either Gerard Pique or Samuel Umtiti in the line up.

Adapting to a new league, environment and squad with the style of play Barca adopt will have been difficult, but particularly after impressing at the World Cup this summer, Mina should arguably get more time to prove his worth with the Catalan giants.

However, coupled with the signing of Clement Lenglet this summer, it appears as though his time with the La Liga champions is coming to an end, as Mundo Deportivo report that he will decide on a move to either Man Utd or Everton on Thursday with a €40m fee being touted.

Further, it’s added that the 23-year-old was close to joining the Merseysiders, but it will now come down to the last day of the transfer window for English clubs as both will await news on where Mina will choose to ply his trade this season.

Given United have fierce competition for places in the backline with Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo all options for Jose Mourinho, Mina may be well advised to snub a move to Old Trafford if he wishes to prioritise regular playing time.

Nevertheless, it’s a potential opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in the world, and so it remains to be seen what has a bigger bearing on the centre-half’s decision on Thursday as he’ll need to make a choice quickly with the deadline fast approaching.
