AC Milan transfer news: Exit imminent with medical touted, €25m-rated winger on radar

AC Milan have under a week until the transfer window in Italy closes, and speculation suggests it could be a busy few days at the club.

The Rossoneri finished sixth in Serie A last season, and while that was good enough to qualify for the Europa League, they will be desperate to return to Europe’s top table next year.

In order to do that, Gennaro Gattuso arguably needs to see reinforcements arrive before the deadline passes so that he is well equipped to chase down their rivals this season and break into the top four.

Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara have already arrived from Juventus in the deal that took Leonardo Bonucci back to Turin, while Pepe Reina, Ivan Strinic and Alen Halilovic have all joined on free transfers.

However, Calciomercato claim that the next bit of business the Italian giants are involved in could see Andre Silva leave the club on loan to join Sevilla, with a medical touted on Saturday after he was left out of the squad to face Real Madrid in their pre-season friendly.

The 22-year-old struggled to make a positive impact last season, scoring just 10 goals in 40 games in all competitions. While a case could be made that having had a year to settle and adapt to Italian football, he could have improved significantly this season.

Nevertheless, with Higuain and youngster Patrick Cutrone arguably ahead of him in the pecking order, his minutes could be limited again and in turn perhaps a loan move is a sensible idea for all parties concerned.

In terms of arrivals, Milan have reportedly set their sights on a new target with Calciomercato reporting that Dutch winger Quincy Promes is on their radar, although he has a €25m valuation from Spartak Moscow, as per the report.

The Rossoneri have a glaring lack of pace and movement in wide positions currently, with Hakan Calhanoglu and Suso providing technical quality and creativity. A different dynamic to stretch defences could be useful though, and after Promes, 26, bagged 21 goals and 10 assists in 38 outings last year, perhaps he could be the solution with an initial loan deal touted as Milan’s preference.
