Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is edging ever closer to completing his loan move to Napoli after arriving in Italy on Thursday for his medical.

As per The Guardian, the Colombian international is set to sign for the Italian giants on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy next summer.

Carlo Ancelotti has been forced into somewhat of an unwanted move though, as after Alex Meret suffered a serious injury in pre-season, a new goalkeeper became a priority for the Partenopei as they look to assemble a squad capable of pushing Juventus at the top of the Serie A table again this year.

With Ospina’s experience and pedigree at the highest level, the 29-year-old can be considered a solid addition, and as seen in the photos below and reported by respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, he has now arrived in Italy ahead of undergoing his medical with his new club.

An exit from Arsenal undoubtedly makes sense, as having already struggled to displace Petr Cech in the starting line-up at the Emirates over the last two seasons, Ospina would only have fallen further down the pecking order after the arrival of Bernd Leno this summer.

In turn, he’ll now hope to cement his place in the Napoli XI and perhaps even force Ancelotti to keep him in the side even when Meret returns from his injury setback.

Further, he’ll also be hoping to impress and prove his worth enough to secure a permanent move, and so it promises to be a very important season in his career.
