Julen Lopetegui is against Real Madrid bringing in Inter Milan and Argentina star Mauro Icardi for a number of reasons.

This is according to Diario Gol, who note that the forward is desperate to leave Serie A, and that the player has been a target for Los Blancos for quite a while now.

The report also notes that Lopetegui doesn’t want Icardi for two reasons, one being related to his character, with the other reason being that he would prefer the club to sign Rodrigo over the Argentina star.

Icardi, who Inter have an asking price of €100M for as per Don Balon, would be a superb signing by Los Blancos, so it’s unclear to see why Lopetegui wouldn’t want the club to sign him.

The forward has been a superb for the Nerazzurri since his arrival from Sampdoria in 2013, with the striker scoring 107 goals in 183 games, a record that is nothing short of brilliant.

With Cristiano Ronaldo now gone, Real are going to have to replace the goals he brought to their side, something Icardi would definitely be able to do.

It’ll be interesting to see if Lopetegui changes his mind on Icardi, or whether he persists with wanting Rodrigo over the 25-year-old.
