Barcelona want key clause inserted as talented youngster on verge of exit

As he looks set to continue to struggle to break into the senior Barcelona line-up, talented starlet Marc Cucurella is reportedly set to leave the Catalan giants.

The 20-year-old has made 43 appearances for the Barcelona ‘B’ team over the past two seasons, while he featured once for the senior side in the Copa del Rey last year.

Despite the exit of Lucas Digne this summer to potentially free up a role in the squad at left-back behind Jordi Alba, it appears as though the La Liga champions are willing to let him move on and secure regular football elsewhere.

It’s a sensible move for all parties in truth, as Cucurella will be desperate to develop his game and gain experience, and if he’s unable to do that at the Nou Camp, then he must look elsewhere to further his own career.

According to Sport though, Barcelona seemingly do rate his talent and are looking to include a buy-back clause in his move to Eibar, thus suggesting that they envisage him going on to improve and develop into a top player and wish to have an opportunity to take him back to the club in the future.

Time will tell if Cucurella does enough to earn a second chance though, but with the transfer deadline fast approaching in Spain on Friday night, the two clubs will have to move quickly to wrap up a deal and send the youngster to his new club.

Ernesto Valverde will hope to see his side compete on various fronts this season and so perhaps quality and depth is needed in all departments to ensure that they enjoy another successful season.

Perhaps with Juan Miranda and Thomas Vermaelen both capable of playing at left-back if necessary, the Spanish tactician feels as though he’s got enough cover to allow Cucurella to move on rather than use him this year, while a system change is always another option too given his depth.
