Tottenham suffer injury blow as key figure set to miss Watford clash

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been ruled out of his side’s encounter with Watford this weekend due to a thigh injury.

Spurs have made a superb start to the new Premier League campaign, winning all three games thus far while scoring eight goals and conceding just two.

With that in mind, Mauricio Pochettino would have been desperate to avoid seeing any of his star players pick up injury blows to disrupt their consistency, but unfortunately for the Argentine tactician, that’s exactly what he’s got with Lloris.

As per Sky Sports, the World Cup winner won’t feature against Watford, but Pochettino did suggest that he will be fit to return to take on Liverpool after the international break which will be a major relief for him.

Nevertheless, he will be forced into a change this weekend and he’ll hope that Spurs can maintain their impressive start without the influential shot-stopper.

As per BBC Sport, the 31-year-old made the headlines for the wrong reasons last weekend after being charged with drink-driving.

Nevertheless, he kept his place in the starting line-up against Man Utd and helped his side to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford to build further confidence and belief in their chances of success this season.

Particularly given that they didn’t sign any new players this past summer transfer window, Pochettino will be looking to his core players to continue to have a big influence on their performances and results, and so he’ll be hoping that his first-choice goalkeeper isn’t forced to remain sidelined after the international break with his issue.
