Chelsea ready to pay £50M to seal transfer of Premier League hotshot should Blues fail with Gonzalo Higuain pursuit

Chelsea are reportedly ready to fork out £50M for Bournemouth and England goal-machine Callum Wilson should they fail with their pursuit of forward Gonzalo Higuain.

According to Sky Sports, the Blues are willing to pay £50M in order to bring Callum Wilson to Stamford Bridge, something the club could end up doing should they fail to sign Higuain.

The report from Sky Sports also states that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is determined to succeed in his pursuit of Higuain in spite of the fact that the club’s board aren’t entirely convinced with the Argentine.

Given Alvaro Morata’s poor form since moving to Chelsea, and Olivier Giroud clear lack of ability to be a world class striker, it seems like the Blues crying out for a superstar striker to lead their attacking line.

Higuain has shown during his time at both Juventus and Real Madrid that he’s more than capable of doing this, something that may be contributing to Sarri’s want to sign him.

The west London side have been far from at their best this season, something that’s mainly down to their lack of a clinical, out-and-out striker in their squad.

Sarri’s is ‘determined’ to be reunited with Gonzalo Higuain at Stamford Bridge

It seems Chelsea could be about to get their hands on a clinical striker in the future if this report is anything to go off, but whether that be Callum Wilson or Higuain remains to be seen.

As well as Higuain, Wilson would also be a great signing for Chelsea to make, especially when you consider how the England international has been performing for Bournemouth this season.

£50M seems like a fair price to pay for a player of Wilson’s quality, it now just remains to be seen whether the Blues end up launching a move for the Cherries star, something that looks like it’s going to hinge on whether they succeed in their attempts to sign Higuain.
