Liverpool open talks for £30m Italian ace as Klopp aims to seal January transfer

Liverpool have entered into negotiations with Italian club Brescia over a possible deal for Sandro Tonali, with just three days left of the winter window.

Jurgen Klopp has had his eye on the 18-year-old midfielder for some time now and according to Gazzetta Dello Sport Journalist Nicolo Shira, he sent scouts to watch the youngster in Serie B action this weekend.

Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of the Italian amid reported interest from a number of other top European clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan and AS Roma, but Brescia are only willing to listen to offers within the region of £35 million – as per Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Klopp is already hoping to increase his midfield options ahead of next season, with competition at the top of the Premier League intensifying with each passing year and Tonali is top of his list of targets.

The Italy U-19 international has already been dubbed ‘the new Pirlo’ – as per Sky Sports – with a playing style and general appearance which bears a striking likeness to the Azzurri legend.

Tonali is a creative, technically brilliant player with a bright future ahead of him and he could thrive at Anfield if given the opportunity to shine.

Liverpool certainly do not have a player of his type in their current arsenal and as Klopp aims to turn his side into English football’s dominant force, adding a new dimension to his midfield could make all the difference going forward.

This story is definitely one that could develop quickly, but it remains to be seen whether or not any deal will see Tonali arrive at Anfield this month, or see him simply sign for the club and remain in Italy until the end of the current campaign.
