Chelsea and Real Madrid in big disagreement over Mateo Kovacic valuation

Chelsea and Real Madrid are reportedly poles apart on the valuation of midfielder Mateo Kovacic ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Croatia international has been on loan at Chelsea from Madrid this season, and his performances in the Premier League have been pretty mixed.

In truth, this is not that far off from his time at the Bernabeu either, where Kovacic was no longer a regular in the first-team by the time he was let go by the club last summer.

Still, Don Balon state Real value him at around £44million, whereas Chelsea only consider him worth around £22m.

This could be an issue as the Spanish giants hope to include him alongside cash in a deal to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea, according to Don Balon.

The west London giants will surely push for more for such an important member of their first-team, with Hazard close to irreplaceable.

Kovacic could well end up being a useful addition for Chelsea in the long run, but at the moment it’s perhaps unsurprising they don’t value him that highly.
