“If he leaves…” – Man United star admits he’s a big fan of rumoured transfer target

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot has commented on his friend and international teammate Diogo Costa amid transfer rumours linking him as a possible target for the Red Devils.

Costa has impressed in his time at Porto, and has earned a place on the radar of Man Utd, as per a recent exclusive Ben Jacobs column for CaughtOffside.

Dalot has now been asked about Costa’s situation, and though he tried to avoid fuelling talk of a potential move to Old Trafford, he made it clear that he likes the player and wishes him well.

“I grew up with him, he’s my friend, there’s a great relationship between us and I know perfectly well that he has the capacity to one day be a world reference. I don’t know if he’ll be at Manchester United or another big club in Europe,” Dalot is quoted by Mais Futebol.

Diogo Costa to Manchester United?

“He shows at FC Porto that he is a differential goalkeeper and has helped the club a lot. If he continues there, I’ll be extremely happy. If he leaves, I hope he has the greatest success in the world.”

It remains to be seen, however, if Erik ten Hag will be ready to change goalkeepers next season, even if there are question-marks over David de Gea.

Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford has also been linked with United in a report by the Sun, though they suggest the club’s interest in the England international has cooled, with De Gea likely to continue as no.1.
