Pep Guardiola wants Spanish ace that Real Madrid have €8m clause on

With an enviable roll call of stars available to him at Man City, it would take a very special player indeed to be able to improve Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The Catalan seemingly won’t stop in his quest for perfection, however, and that means that no City player can rest on their laurels.

Competition for places is generally what every manager desires, but to be able to manage it on a consistent basis at arguably the best club in the world hints at just how good Guardiola remains at his job, and why many consider him to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson as the best to have ever managed.

If he enters the transfer market, you can be assured it’s because he’s identified even the most minute detail that he wants to change.

According to Defensa Central (h/t Fichajes), Guardiola has his eyes on Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.

The outlet suggest that he would cost the Premier League side in the region of €30m despite both clubs being part of the City Group.

What would appear to complicate the issue is that Real Madrid have an €8 million clause that allows them to match any offer for the player.

Los Blancos also own 50% of the full-back’s transfer rights, meaning they could ultimately control his next step.
