European giants put €100m price tag on long-term Man United target, player open to move

This summer will be a huge one for the future of Man United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe oversees his first transfer window at the Premier League giants.

Major changes are expected at Old Trafford and the INEOS CEO could help Erik ten Hag land one of his long-term targets.

Back in 2022, Man United agreed a deal with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong but the Dutch star opted to stay with the La Liga giants.

According to the Daily Mail, the Manchester club have maintained an interest in the midfielder and it is being reported that De Jong may be open to leaving Barcelona this summer as the future doesn’t look very bright at the Catalan club given their financial difficulties.

Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation while Barca have put a price tag on the player ahead of the summer transfer window.

Frenkie de Jong is open to leaving Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants will demand £85million (€100million) for the transfer of De Jong and his sale would help relieve some of their financial stress.

Should the Netherlands star go public with his desire to leave Spain, Man United will be in the running, and a switch to Old Trafford would see the Dutch player finally reunite with his old Ajax boss Ten Hag.

The pair worked together from 2017-19, where they won the domestic double and reached a Champions League semi-final in 2019. The acquisition of De Jong would be a big deal for United but it remains to be seen if it can get done.
