No truth to rumours that Mbappe was offered to Arsenal and Liverpool says Romano

Kylian Mbappe was on the scoresheet yet again on Wednesday night, bagging his 44th Champions League goal agains Real Sociedad.

He continues to set the standard in the competition, and it’s no wonder that he has long been coveted by Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old has once again reached a career crossroads, and he has arguably the biggest decision of his career to make now.

The next contract he signs is likely to see him through his peak years as a footballer, and to that end, everything needs to be right and feel right.

Of course, he will demand a certain amount of remuneration, but he has to feel wanted.

So far, Los Blancos have offered him less than they have previously and that’s believed to have not been well received by Mbappe’s camp.

In any event, there were rumours circulating in The Independent which linked both Arsenal and Liverpool with the player.

“I have to say guys that I haven’t heard this honestly. There’s no update on Mbappe so far, I’ve really nothing new to share,” Fabrizio Romano said in response to the rumours in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

“As I always say: the Mbappe story will only be clear when he decides, and he will firstly inform PSG and their president Al Khelaifi.

“At that point we will be able to understand what’s next for Kylian. Sources are denying all other stories.”

Given that Real are playing perfectly well without the French World Cup winner, the current game of brinksmanship that Mbappe appears to be undertaking is unlikely to go down well in the corridors of power at the Santiago Bernabeu.

  1. Look it is very- very simple, Mbappe either stays at PSG for the money and as such he may well not win any other silverware than a French Leaugue or he takes a pay drop because he knows that he is one of the best ever and as such wants to reach his fullest potential and win the best Silverware possible playing against the best teams/players in the World – Mr Romano supposedly being one of the best pundits on such matters why not spell it out as it is in your article – over to you Kylian – it’s your choice (there is a trade off here i.e. more money vs reaching your fullest potential – I would say to him)!

  2. Mbappe loves Arsenal and watched Arsenal and Henry as a young boy growing up. It is his dream to play for Arsenal and he will take a wage cut and join them for free come the summer. I don’t believe Romano as he gets it wrong 90% of the time. Look at all those transfers he predicted during the winter transfer window, only to go back on his word the final week of the transfer to announce that Arsenal will not be buying anyone, only after hearing Arteta say it on live TV. He guesses like everyone else and has no inside information whatsoever.
