Liverpool linked manager breaks silence on contract talks

Inter Milan’s manager, Simone Inzaghi, has been eyed by Liverpool as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp. However, recent reports indicate that Inzaghi is poised to turn down any offer from Liverpool, making the likelihood of him taking over at Anfield slim.

As per reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inzaghi is determined to remain with Inter Milan for the long haul, having built a team he feels can contend for trophies over the coming years.

Although his contract runs until 2025, talks are anticipated to commence for a new deal, likely involving a substantial salary raise from his current €5.5 million (£4.7m) per year.

Inzaghi recently told the media, via Fabrizio Romano: “I’m happy here at Inter, I feel good with board and fans. About my contract, we’re gonna meet after this season to discuss the extension but the relationship is really great. Talks will be good.”

At present, Inzaghi’s focus remains on steering Inter to success on the field as they gear up to take on Bologna this Saturday. Inter currently lead the Serie A standings, boasting a commanding 15-point advantage over second-placed Juventus.

It looks as though Liverpool will have to cross the Italian off their list of managers they want to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
