Sources have informed Football Insider that Joelinton’s preference is to remain in the Premier League should negotiations for a contract extension with Newcastle United falter.
If an agreement cannot be reached, it is understood that the Magpies are prepared to offload the Brazilian forward during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe, the Newcastle manager, has acknowledged that Joelinton’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2025. He also hinted that the Brazilian forward might have already played his final game for Newcastle, following a season-ending injury.
According to reliable sources from Football Insider, the 27-year-old is convinced that his playing style is perfectly suited to the English Premier League thus would prefer to stay in England. His versatility, attitude, and physical prowess are highly regarded as significant strengths by clubs in the Premier League.
The midfielder’s last appearance for the Magpies was in their 3-0 FA Cup victory against arch-rivals Sunderland on January 6th.
Newcastle United confirmed that he has undergone successful surgery for a thigh injury and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
Since his reported £40 million transfer from Hoffenheim in 2019, across 180 appearances, he has scored 25 goals and contributed 15 assists. Originally the Brazilian struggled to make an impact as a central striker, but since Eddie Howe converted him to a more box-to-box midfielder role he has been immense.
