Barcelona make player enquiries regarding hugely controversial low-cost summer move

Barcelona have always prided themselves on being a little bit different from other clubs both in Spain and across Europe.

Their strap line of ‘Mes que un Club’ means ‘More than a Club’ and is supposed to perfectly encapsulate that ethos.

It could be suggested that some decisions over the past few years have rendered that saying moribund, but even if hardly anyone has taken notice, a decision that’s apparently recently been taken by the club will raise a few eyebrows.

Barcelona want to sign Mason Greenwood

Man United farmed off England international, Mason Greenwood, to Getafe after a huge fan backlash at the news that the player was expected to be brought back into the first-team fold.

Mason Greenwood is a target for Barcelona

Out of the glare of publicity from the English media, the 22-year-old has just been allowed to get on with his football, and he’s been playing very well indeed for the South Madrid-based side.

So much so that Sport (h/t Football Espana) have reported that Barcelona have made tentative enquiries about a low-cost move for the player.

Though Greenwood has never been charged with sexual assault, he was initially accused of it, and that will follow him around wherever he goes.

If Barcelona want to be true to their values, they need to steer well clear.
