Newcastle lining up summer move for 11-goal ace who would cost £45m

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing the RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

A report from HITC claims that Newcastle are keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Slovenian international striker and they could look to make a move for him in the summer. The report states that Newcastle have been keeping tabs on the player since 2022.

The talented young striker has 11 goals across all competitions this season and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Newcastle. The Magpies need to bring in a quality striker at the end of the season and the Slovenian would be a long-term investment.

The striker reportedly has a release clause of £45 million in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle are prepared to pay up. The German outfit are unlikely to let him leave for cheap and any club hoping to sign him in the summer will have to trigger his release clause.

He has a long-term contract with RB Leipzig and they are under no pressure to cash in on him.

The report from HITC adds that Newcastle are not the only English club key on the striker and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are monitoring his progress as well.

Newcastle have had a disappointing season this year and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly next season. They need to plug the gaps in their squad and improve in order to do well. Signing another goalscorer should be one of their priorities and Sesko would be a solid future investment for them.

The striker could be tempted to move to the Premier League and Newcastle have an ambitious project. It remains to be seen whether they decide to follow up on their interest with an official proposal in the summer.
