West Ham United are keen on signing Ademola Lookman from Atalanta during the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Italian club and he helped them win the Europa League with a stunning hattrick in the final.

As per Football Insider, West Ham are looking to sign him as a wide forward and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done. The 26-year-old could be tempted to return to England in the summer and West Ham could be an exciting destination for him.

It is no surprise that the Hammers are looking at wide players. The likes of Mohammed Kudus have been linked with the move away from the club, and they will have to replace him adequately if the Ghanaian moves on.

Ademola Lookman would improve West Ham

Lookman would be a quality investment for the Hammers. He is versatile enough to operate on both flanks as well as the centre forward. He could prove to be an upgrade on players like Michail Antonio and Danny Ings as well. The former Everton player has 17 goals and 10 assist in all competitions this past season and it will be interesting to see if the Hammers can secure an agreement with Atalanta.

The Nigerian has a contract with the Italian club until 2026, and they are under no pressure to sell him just yet. West Ham might have to come forward with a lucrative proposal in order to get the deal done.

In addition to that, Atalanta will be able to provide him with Champions League football next season and that could play a major role in convincing the Nigerian to continue in Italy. West Ham will not be able to provide him European football next season.
