I reported here yesterday that Manchester United were seriously looking at centre-back signings, with Como’s Jacobo Ramon emerging as one of their top targets.

There has been some suggestion that a signing like Ramon could be brought in due to concerns over Leny Yoro, and though I couldn’t confirm that in yesterday’s piece, I was actually messaged with some interesting information shortly after hitting publish.

It seems that very reliable sources are now casting serious doubt over Yoro’s Old Trafford future, with a host of Europe’s top clubs keeping a close eye on the situation, including some of United’s Premier League rivals.

Leny Yoro unsettled and attracting Arsenal interest

One name I was surprised to hear was Arsenal, but I can insist this is a very reliable source saying this.

“Leny Yoro is concerned about his role, there’ll be talks soon to clarify the situation, but clubs have taken this as a clear message that he’s ready to consider offers,” my source told me.

“PSG have the strongest interest, and that dates back to Yoro’s time in France. But from within the Premier League, Arsenal could also be a serious option to watch.”

Even if things haven’t quite gone to plan for Yoro at United, he’s still only 20 years of age, and was on the list of every top club while he was at Lille.

Real Madrid pushed hard to sign him at the time, and though their interest has now cooled, others like Chelsea, Barcelona, and AC Milan have also been mentioned to me as long-time admirers.

Yoro’s people likely won’t be too happy to see United seriously looking at signings like Ramon, as it’s another clear signal that they’re prepared to make changes at the back, and that Yoro might not be a part of their long-term plans.

What’s gone wrong for Yoro at United?

It’s worth mentioning that some sources close to United have played this down, and insist that Yoro is still seen as someone who can compete and win his place back in Michael Carrick’s side.

However, other people I’ve spoken to suggest that Yoro hasn’t settled at the club, and we know this has been a common theme for so many of the big signings made in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Numerous big names and top young talents have gone backwards at Old Trafford, and there may well be those close to Yoro who feel he needs to get out now to turn his career around.

The Frenchman joined only two years ago, but has already played under three different managers, and this seems far from ideal for him at such a crucial stage of his development.

I’m told that Ruben Amorim was a big fan of Yoro, but with him now gone it wouldn’t be too surprising if Carrick had other plans.
