Arne Slot identifies Inter Milan star as ideal player to fit new 4-2-3-1 formation

Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot is reportedly in the process of identifying players capable of playing a new formation.

The Feyenoord boss, who is set to succeed Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, is expected to line the Reds up in a new 4-2-3-1 formation — very different to their usual 4-3-3.

And according to a recent report from Fichajes, one of the players needed to execute such a demanding and rigid formation is another holding player who can slot in at the base of midfield.

The player in line to be pursued is Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella.

Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella is attracting interest from Liverpool.

According to these latest reports, the Italian maestro is an option to replace the departing Thiago in the Reds’ squad and is viewed as a player who has the technical versatility to form a “dynamic” partnership with Alexis Mac Allister.

Barella, who lifted the 2020 Euros with Italy, has just two years left on his contract at the San Siro and is valued at around £70 million (TM).
