Club not prioritising Man Utd star and have three or four other top transfer targets for this summer

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly no longer a priority for Paris Saint-Germain, who are looking at Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and a few other targets instead for this summer.

That’s according to a report from iNews, who state that PSG have cooled their interest in Rashford, who looks likely to stay at Man Utd instead of moving on for a new challenge abroad after what has been a frustrating, below-par season for him at Old Trafford.

Rashford has mostly been a star performer for United down the years, but he’s suffered a major dip in his performance levels this season, scoring just eight goals in 40 appearances in all competitions so far, down from a total of 30 in 56 games last term.

It is therefore not too surprising that PSG might now be less keen on signing the England international, with Osimhen looking far more impressive with his performances in Serie A over the last few years.

A fully confident and in-form Rashford could have made sense as an ideal signing for PSG this summer as Kylian Mbappe nears the end of his contract – although the France international is the superior player, there are clear similarities with how they play and the positions they take up.

Now, however, replacing Mbappe might be less straightforward, with Osimhen not so much a like-for-like replacement, but perhaps a signal of a change of emphasis by PSG manager Luis Enrique, who would presumably use the Nigeria international centrally and either make Ousmane Dembele more of a key player in Mbappe’s position on the left, or else sign someone else for that role.

iNews add that PSG could have a lot of money to spend this summer, with the bulk of that likely to go on Osimhen, though there might also be some sense in spreading their budget around so they can make two or three top signings, rather than just one.

United fans will probably be relieved, overall, that Rashford is now surely more likely to stay, as he’ll be a valuable asset to the club if this season proves to be little more than a blip and he can get back to his best soon.
