Tottenham sniffing around Brazilian keeper
by stresster on June 24th, 2008So here’s to you Mr Robinson, Juande hates you more than you can know. Maybe hate is a bit strong but Ramos clearly has more faith in Freddie, my cat, to stop the opposition scoring than the former Leeds United shot-stopper.
However, according to Sky Sports, it appears that Tottenham are in the hunt for a shiny new keeper by the name of Heurelho Gomes. Brazil is not renowned for churning out brilliant goalkeepers (costing the national team on several major occasions), although the PSV cat is clearly unhappy with his current club and Spurs are seemingly in pole position.
Managing director Jan Reker confirmed that the Premier League side had been in touch in regards to Gomes, but insists that a deal is yet to be struck.
“Tottenham have informed us of their interest,” he said in the Eindhovens Dagblad newspaper.
It’s clear that Robinson won’t stick around as number two at Tottenham, reports coming from White Hart Lane suggest that the player refused to train when he was dropped last season! What’s the betting that Aston Villa finally give up on Scott Carson, especially with Liverpool’s inflated price tag, and instead opt to take a punt on Robbo?

i find the demise of robinson from world class keeper to sunday park flapper a complete mystery, but one thing i’m sure of is that we cannot allow sentiment get in the way of our pursuit of success so he must be replaced.

i agree stoney, robbos dip is a mystery n a great shame, i blame the english media for goin on at him for the ball bouncing on the potato field v croatia n went in.
Gomes is a very solid, european style keeper unlike his brazilian competitors Doni and Julio Cesar. I also like his leadership and is a gent
Good signing

Robinson is awful.
I’ve yet to hear a half-decent defence for keeping him on.
You don’t win anything but the league cup when you’ve got a shaky goalkeeper behind a team.
I don’t think he is going to come good.

maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t that good in the first place! and the london media/spurs fans bigged him up into something he wasnt just because they wanted to get rid of david james
that was a great decision.
at the time, sven didnt have much choice to replace james because of the media, and robinson was the ONLY candidate. he got in my default and eventually shown up for what he was
mcdonut didnt help by describing him as peter schmeical either
and gomes isnt much better either, just coz ramos wants him and he has a fancy name (like dos santos) spurs fans think hes gonna be the mutts nuts

anonymous you’ve not seen him play as much as i have. I sit in the paxton and at times it was a pleasure to see him perform heroics behind a dodgey defence. He was absolute class. Don’t pass comment on something you don’t know about.
