Arsenal close to sealing £6m transfer deals: Nice cash boost for Wenger!

Wily boss Arsene Wenger looks set to cash in on yet more transfer sell-on clauses as two more of his former charges ready for big money moves!

Rumours have started to emerge that the transfer of James Harper from Reading to Boro is being held up by Arsenal. Harper was sold in 2001 to Reading with a 40% sell on clause reportedly in his contract and it is this that may be holding the transfer up.

Reading had hoped to bypass this or that Arsenal would take a smaller cut. It’s been suggested Arsenal are claiming the full amount and therefore Reading may insist on more money from Boro to get their man.

Harper has had varying price tags put on him by the media from £4m to £6m and it may be that any interested party has to part with the larger end of that scale to get their target. (vitalfootball.co.uk)

Spurs have been trying to land Bentley for weeks but Rovers are stubbornly holding out for £17m, a fee that includes a sell-on clause which will see a chunk of the profit go to Arsenal. (Daily Mirror)

Arsenal have already reportedly secured a tidy £1.6m from Fabrice Muamba’s move to Bolton and are expected to secure cash from the potential imminent sale of Sebastian Larsson they look set to raise at least another £6m from the Bentley and Harper deals. I think it’s safe to say that Wenger is rubbing his hands with a certain amount of glee. Clearly these sales show that the French genius may well have let some top talent leave the club but he didn’t do so without an eye to the future! Do Gunners fans believe that any of the former Arsenal players set to move this summer should have been given more of a chance at the club?
