The £3m signing that could save Spurs from the DROP?

This German international appears to have been linked with a move to Eastlands, but could he be the answer to some, if not all, of Ramos’s problems?

Frings is renowned as a complete midfielder, strong in the tackle, hard working, creative and with an ability to score goals. His work ethic is second to none and he would surely prove an outstanding signing for the City if only for a few seasons.

Despite City’s interest there are a few Premier League clubs that he would also be perfect for. One of those clubs is North London rivals Tottenham & Arsenal who are both crying out for a midfield enforcer to back up the vast array of attacking talents they’ve signed. Spurs players Didier Zokora and Tom Huddlestone have yet to prove they can fill such a role and neither are in Frings class. The Spurs faithful would surely welcome the acquisition of Frings to the club, after all they loved the all action displays of Steffen Freund and he was nowhere near as good as the Werder Bremen star. Torsten Frings is a top-notch player who, at 31, still has the legs for a few more seasons in the top flight. This is something he ably proved when he helped Werder Bremen to the runners-up spot in the Bundesliga last term, as well as aiding his national team to the Euro 2008 final. The midfielder has bags of experience and has many facets to his game, whether it be a biting challenge on the halfway line or a rasping thirty-yard piledriver.

He could be just the kind of player to add guile and grit to a Spurs midfield that has looked woeful thus far this term. Do Tottenham fans think such an investment would be a good one?
