Newcastle manager denies sale of his PRIZED striker: Chelsea are talking rubbish once again!

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear is hot under the collar once again after reports surfaced about his prized striker possibly making a move to Chelsea in the summer. He wants everyone to understand that Owen isn’t going anywhere!

A number of UK newspapers suggested on Friday that the 28-year-old Newcastle striker might move to West London for £5 million, with Chelsea looking to bring in some cut-price cover up front, after the Blues’ number-one target, Sevilla’s Luis Fabiano, was found to be a prohibitively expensive £25 million.

But Kinnear has fiercely denied claims of an Owen move, and urged Magpies bosses to agree a new contract with the striker. Should they fail to do so, Owen, whose deal runs out at the end of this season, would be able to leave Newcastle on a free transfer in the summer. (ESPNSoccernet)

To be honest, this wouldn’t be such a bad move for Chelsea. Owen could come on the cheap for the London club; but would it make sense for him to leave for Chelsea where he’d most likely sit on the bench and rot? I can think of numerous clubs he’d be far better off at if he did decide to move.

What do Newcastle supporters think? Will Owen move away from Tyneside in the January window?
