Liverpool are expected to complete the £10m signing of Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet today according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24 year old Belgian will cost Brendan Rodgers’s side £9m up front and could rise to a total fee of £10m and will certainly lead many wondering what the future holds for Spaniard Pepe Reina, who would surely not be happy warming the Liverpool bench.

Mignolet would be Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer with Rodgers having already brought in Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas thus far during the transfer window.

Sunderland signed Mignolet in a £2m deal from Sint-Truiden in June 2010 and has proven a very wise addition, becoming the Black Cats regular and forcing Scot Craig Gordon out of the first team set-up fairly swiftly.

Mignolet will hope that a high profile move to Merseyside can aid his push to unseat Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois to become the Belgian number one national team starter.

The Sunderland keeper is expected to agree personal terms and undergo his medical today.
