Roma president James Pallotta has admitted that star midfielder Daniele De Rossi could be on his way out of the club after claiming that ‘everyone’ is on the market, Sky Sports reports.

The Italian international has been a long time target for Manchester City and they have now been given fresh hope of landing his signature now that they know it is only a matter of how many zero’s they add to the end of a cheque.

De Rossi has long been a staple of the Roma squad, but the club’s American president doesn’t seem to have much room for sentimentality.

“De Rossi? We’ll see. Everybody is on the market, just as they are for the Boston Celtics,” said Pallotta.

“Francesco Totti will always be a part of Roma and we want him to stay. He will certainly play for one or two more years, we’ve got to understand the situation along with him.

“I don’t know if he wants to play until he’s 40. He may well do, but if he gets to 40 then he’ll ask me if he can continue until he’s 50!”

Roma have also recently placed a new coach in charge in the shape of former Lille boss Rudi Garcia, and Pallotta has admitted that he knew he had found his man when the pair first met.

“I met Garcia in New York and after an hour I realised he would be the right coach for us who would stay for a long time.”
