Bayern Munich’s sporting director Matthias Sammer has said that striker Mario Gomez wants to leave the club and join Italian side Fiorentina, Goal.com reports.

The striker had a tough season at the Allianz Arena after losing his place in the Bayern first team to Mario Mandzukic and many believe that Gomez will look to leave the European Champions in search of first team football.

Sammer has said that the German striker does want to leave Bayern for Florence but warned the Italian club that they will have to pay Gomez asking price in order to sign the striker.

“If the conditions are not right, then it’s just not going to work,” Sammer told Sport1.

“As long as our wishes remain unfulfilled, nothing is going to happen. But Mario wants to go to Fiorentina.”

Recent reports have also suggested that Arsenal are interested in signing the striker, who has scored 113 goals in 174 appearances for Bayern since signing from Stuttgart.

However, Fiorentina appears to the be strikers first choice for a move this summer and the Italian club could see Gomez as a replacement for Stevan Jovetic, who has been linked with a move away from Florence.

Jovetic has said that he wants to leave Fiorentina in search of a fresh challenge with Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester City all interested in the striker.
