Southampton’s wonder kid Luke Shaw is set to sign a new contract with the club, amid interested from a host of Premier League clubs according to The Sun.

The 18 year-old is to pen a new five year deal keeping him at St Mary’s until 2018 today – on his birthday. The deal is expected to offer him £25,000-a-week according to the Sun to persuade him to snub interest from elsewhere.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been strongly linked with the English left back in recent weeks after his impressive 25 league appearances for the Saints last season, helping them to secure Premier League status and finish 14th.

Luke joined Southampton’s youth set up when he was aged just nine years old, before later making his debut for the Premier League side when he was just 17 against Millwall in the FA Cup fourth round, on January 28th 2012.

Former Saints boss Nigel Adkins, declared Shaw was not for sale back in January with this statement :
“Luke Shaw is a big part of our future plans. We have got no intention, believe you me, of letting any of our young players move on. We want them in the first team, in the Premier League, playing for Southampton Football Club.”

With the recent arrival of Croatian central defender Dejan Lovren from Lyon, for a fee of £8million, Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to strengthen his side to fight for a top 10 finish next season. Despite nine players being released this summer, Pochettino has made it very clear that he does not wish to lose any of his star players, such as Shaw, no matter the price.
