Chelsea may consider selling long-serving goalkeeper Petr Cech next summer as they look to promote exciting youngster Thibaut Courtois to first choice, according to the Daily Express.

Cech has been a key player for the Blues since moving to the club in 2004, making many crucial saves in the most successful period in their history as they have won numerous titles with his presence in goal.

However, the club are also in possession of one of the world’s best young shot-stoppers, with Belgian international Courtois making quite an impression over the last couple of years in a loan spell with La Liga side Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old’s displays have seen him linked with a big move to Barcelona, but Chelsea will be keen not to lose such a top talent, and may consider promoting him to first choice at Stamford Bridge next season, though that would mean bidding farewell to one of the club’s greatest servants in Cech.

However, Courtois himself has expressed his confidence in challenging the Czech Republic international for the Chelsea number one jersey, and pointed to the fact that Jose Mourinho has not been afraid to drop more experienced and established names for youngsters before, citing the Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez situation from his time as manager of Real Madrid.
