Liverpool are reportedly still chasing Anzhi forward Lacina Traore but face stiff competition from Turkish giants Galatasaray according to the Daily Express.

Though Brendan Rodgers has seen his Anfield side start the season brightly he may well feel he is too reliant on Daniel Sturridge at present though clearly the Merseyside club will soon welcome back Luis Suarez from his long term ban.

Traore could be the latest star performer to leave Anzhi Makhachkala as they look to cut costs with the likes of Willian and Samuel Eto’o having moved to Chelsea this summer.

The former Cluj man has been a success since moving to Anzhi last June, scoring 18 goals in 39 appearances, and could well be a useful addition to any Premier League side given his size and physical attributes.

The 6ft 8in Ivory Coast international may feel the time is right for a new challenge, especially after Anzhi’s appalling start to the current campaign which has seen the Dagestan based side fail to secure a single win in their opening eight matches of the season.
