Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria has once again confirmed his desire to stay with the club, despite continuing interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham, talkSPORT reports.

The Argentine attacker is a highly-rated player among the giants of European football, and was a surprise candidate for the exit door this summer with so many new arrivals at the Bernabeu.

With Gareth Bale and Isco joining for a combined fee of over £100m, the futures of several key players at the club came under some doubt, with Mesut Ozil eventually leaving the club to join Arsenal for £42.4m, though it was thought that the Gunners were also keen on signing Di Maria.

The former Benfica star was also talked up as being part of a potential swap deal that would see him move to Tottenham in return for Bale, though this never materialised once the club lost Ozil to Arsenal.

With Manchester United also on the lookout for new attacking midfielders, Di Maria’s name cropped up once again, though the man himself is glad he stayed with Real, saying he never wanted a move away from the club he joined in 2010.

“I wanted to stay from the start, because being here is the best possible thing that could have happened to me,” Di Maria said.

“It’s true that it was a difficult summer in which a lot was said and many lies were told.

“I am happy because things are going well for me. I am getting game time and I am feeling very confident.”
