Mercurial Liverpool front man Luis Suarez has confirmed that he is happy at Anfield and knows nothing whatsoever of any potential interest in him in the winter transfer window from Spanish champions Real Madrid, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The in-demand Uruguay international’s future with the Merseyside outfit has been in some doubt ever since the end of last season, when Suarez gave a number of interviews back in his homeland declaring his wish to quit the Reds and sign for Premier League rivals Arsenal.

However, after the north London club failed with two big-money offers for the 26-year-old, the second of which was a much-publicised bid valued at £40 million plus £1, Suarez decided to remain with the club following the closure of the summer window.

And now with Liverpool flying high in the Premier League, the striker says that he is happy on Merseyside and knows nothing of any reported interest in his services from los Blancos.

“I know nothing of any interest from Real Madrid, and I am happy with Liverpool,” Suarez said in an interview with Sport 890, a radio station in his native Uruguay.

“In the team we are all really excited, and looking forward to a good season. We have been at the top so far, and we are still aiming at the top – we still have momentum and we can believe that the top spot is marked for us.

“We believe in the team and we believe we can have a really good season – an exciting season.

“The Premier League is the best league there is. The stadiums, the atmosphere and the fans make football here so entertaining.”

Suarez has managed to record six goals and two assists in just his five Premier League matches for Liverpool since returning from a ten-game suspension in September.
