One would imagine it entirely plausible that Jose Mourinho would listen to offers for Belgian youngster De Bruyne, who has struggled to impress since being ushered into the Blues squad after a successful season on loan at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

The youngster will be looking for regular first team football to help retain his prominent role in the national team set-up ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals.

Vicente Calderon may well see Mata as an ideal replacement for impressive playmaker Koke, who could be set to leave the club, and perhaps the Spanish international would welcome a move back to his homeland after being frozen out of the Chelsea starting eleven for much of the current campaign.

That said the 25 year old has featured in recent fixtures and one wonders if Atletico Madrid could afford the fee necessary to land the hugely talented Chelsea star.

Atletico Madrid currently sit level on points with Barcelona in the La Liga table and comfortably eased through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
