The prolific Brazil-born striker is currently enjoying a sensational campaign in front of goal for Diego Simeone’s high-flying Liga outfit, so much so that many of the Continent’s biggest clubs have been keeping close tabs on Costa of late with a view to making a bid for the player when the winter transfer window opens again in the new year.

And that also includes a number of Premier League giants as well, with both champions Manchester United and Liverpool having been heavily linked with the 25-year-old of late.

In fact, the Reds even tried to buy Costa last summer by lodging an offer for the forward that was big enough to activate the £22.8 million release clause in his contract, only for the recently called-up Spain international to turn down the chance to move to Anfield.

And Atleti responded to Liverpool’s approach by handing Costa a lucrative new deal until 2018, as well as also doubling the attacker’s wages and increasing his buyout clause to a whopping £32m.

However, that figure has reportedly not scared the Gunners off, with scouts from the north London club set to check Costa out in this weekend’s league match with Levante.
