Southampton are reportedly keen on signing AS Monaco wide-man Lucas Ocampos according to Sports Direct News.

Such a move would be an ambitious one by Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine no doubt looking to make the most of his side’s good standing in the English top tier.

Southampton look set for a comfortable top half finish and the south-coast side will primarily look to keep hold of their top talents whilst also looking to strengthen and a move for teenager Ocampos is an intelligent one to consider.

Ocampos moved to AS Monaco in August 2012 and was a pivotal part of Claudio Ranieri’s Ligue 2 title winning campaign but has spent most of the current campaign as a sub, coming on for cameo roles and making a real impact when doing so.

The summer arrivals of Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez has limited the Argentine starlet’s chances at the Stade Louis II side and a move to the Premier League may tempt the 19 year old.

Chelsea have been linked with an interest in Ocampos in the past but a move to St Mary’s could perhaps offer the former River Plate man the regular first team football he needs in order to continue his career progression.
