Liverpool are to re-ignite their interest in Tottenham attacker Gylfi Sigurdsson according to Football Direct News.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has been tracking the Icelandic international for some time and knows the 24 year old well from his time at Swansea City and is keen to bring in further options to boost his Liverpool attack.

The adaptable midfielder, who can play out wide or in an advanced central role, is an set-piece specialist and could offer a more direct link between midfield and attack and provide a fresh goal-scoring avenue for the Merseyside club.

Sigurdsson has been something of a bit-part player this season, making just ten Premier League starts, and could well be tempted by the idea of working with Rodgers again, especially if Liverpool manage to secure a Champions League berth for next term.

It’s out wide where Sigurdsson could be of most value with loaned in Chelsea man Victor Moses not likely to join Liverpool on a permanent basis.

Liverpool may also elect to offload Fabio Borini, who is on loan at Sunderland, whilst summer signing Iago Aspas has looked way out of his depth since moving to the English top tier.
