The north London club have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Spain Under-21 international for some time now, and very nearly agreed a six-month loan deal for the 21-year-old during the recent January transfer window.

However, at the very last minute los Blancos performed a U-turn and decided to keep hold of the Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu for the remainder of this campaign, although the club are still happy to offload Morata this summer.

And it had been expected that the player would swap the Spanish for the English capital next season, but that was before the Gunners were informed just how much Madrid were hoping to recoup for their attacking starlet, who is contracted to the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30 2015.

As a result, the north London club’s head coach Arsene Wenger must now make a decision as to whether or not to invest a large percentage of his summer transfer kitty on Morata.
