Angry Emirates Stadium boss ready to axe under-performing stars.

Check in to Arsenal vs Manchester City

Arsenal are ready to sell three first team squad members after displays from Olivier Giroud, Mikel Arteta and Thomas Vermaelen once again failed to impress Arsene Wenger.

Football Direct News claims that under-fire boss Wenger was angered by the performances of the aforementioned trio and will look to find buyers for the three stars in the summer.

Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta has looked decidedly average this term and is a player Wenger may feel he can do without, not least as the former Everton man turns 32 years of age today.

Thomas Vermaelen has been a bit-part player over the past 18 months but Wenger was said to be unimpressed by the Belgian’s efforts against Swansea City, a rare start for the 28 year old, and is now ready to offload the former Ajax man.

Though Giroud is Arsenal’s top scorer he has looked pedestrian at times this season, no doubt exhausted following a long season where he has received little in the way of support up front.

Off field antics haven’t helped his cause and the French international appears to be another player Wenger is ready to sell this summer as part of what may prove a major Emirates Stadium squad overhaul.
