Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is readying a move to tempt to two Man City stars into a move to Anfield this summer.

CaughtOffside understands that the Merseyside club will make their interest in utility midfielder James Milner and adaptable defender Micah Richards known at the end of the current campaign and will hope that they have by then secured a Champions League berth that would make a move for the duo all the more attractive.

Rodgers is keen to add strength in depth to his midfield and is known to be an admirer of hugely experienced 28 year old who is something of a bit-part player at the Etihad Stadium.

The England international has started just eight of Man City’s 30 Premier League fixtures and has just over a year to run on his current contract and may well be thinking long and hard about his future at the club.

Brendan Rodgers doesn’t have a great many midfield or wide attacking options and the promise of a chance of more regular first team football could persuade Milner into considering a move to a Liverpool side who are well and truly on the up and up.

With a view to boosting his defensive options Rodgers wants to snap up Micah Richards, a player who’s is in desperate need of a move in order to rescue a flagging career.

The form of Argentine Pablo Zabaleta has kept Richards out of Manuel Pellegrini’s thoughts, with the one time England regular making just two Premier League starts this term.

The fact that Richards can play as a full-back or in the centre of defence has led to Liverpool’s growing interest in the 25 year old.

Liverpool are ready to table an opening offer of £18m for the pair and it’s an offer that Man City may consider as they look to trim their expansive squad in lieu of UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines beginning to bite.
