Arsenal Track Southampton Centre-Back Dejan Lovren as Replacement for Exit Bound Defender

Check in to Everton vs Arsenal

Arsenal are to join the race to sign in-form Southampton defender Dejan Lovren according to Football Direct News.

Emirates Stadium boss Arsene Wenger may well be forced to consider offers for Belgian Thomas Vermaelen, who may well be unhappy with his continued role as back-up to the first choice centre-back pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker.

Liverpool are also tracking the Croatian international who’s value may well increase with a solid display at the 2014 World Cup finals.

Lovren has been in outstanding form since moving to the south-coast though any bid for the Southampton man would have to be in excess of the £8.5m the Saints paid for the tough tackler last June.

A potential move to Arsenal may well depend on any guarantees he’d receive in relation to regular first team football though the former Lyon man may feel he is best off remaining at a Southampton side that is well and truly on the up and up.
