Anfield side look to lure Brazilian into making White Hart Lane exit.

Check in to West Ham United vs Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will register his interest in Tottenham midfielder Paulinho this summer after learning of the player’s growing frustration at White Hart Lane.

CaughtOffside understands that the 25 year old Brazilian will look to leave the North London club at the end of the current campaign with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy ready to listen to offers for the former Internacional man.

Levy is keen to trim the club’s playing staff as he seeks to balance the books with Champions League qualification seemingly no longer a possibility and will look to recoup as much of the £17m fee they paid for Paulinho last July.

The talented attack minded midfielder started the season well but has started just five Premier League fixtures in 2014 and was unhappy at the exit of the manager who brought him in, Andre Villas-Boas, and not overly enamoured by the treatment he feels he has received under new boss Tim Sherwood.

Rodgers is looking to add more strength in depth to his midfield and feels that Paulinho has the quality to make a real impact at Anfield and with Liverpool looking to mount a good run in the Champions League there is certainly scope for a big money signing or two when the transfer window re-opens.

Currently the Liverpool manager can call upon Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and Lucas Leiva to fill central midfield roles and Rodgers feels that the addition of a player of Paulinho’s standing would constitute something of a Champions League upgrade and could be the first of a number of approaches for significant summer captures the Northern Irish boss will look to make.
