The race to be named the best player of the season narrows down.

The final shortlist of players to be named the PFA Player of the Year has been announced and there are very few surprises.

Liverpool trio Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are joined by Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana.

All have had outstanding seasons in their own respects, with Liverpool and City’s representatives are still having a big say on where the Premier League title ends up come May.

Lallana has also had a tremendous season, becoming one of the country’s most sought after players as well as breaking into the England national team and seemingly booking himself a ticket to Brazil for the World Cup this summer.

Eden Hazard has also been in fantastic form this term by keeping the Blues in the mix for the title as well as leading the club to a Champions League semi-final.

Gerrard is the only player on the shortlist to have won the main prize before, with the Liverpool captain picking up the gong in 2005-06.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony held at the end of the season.
