The agent of Lazio starlet Keita Balde Diao has revealed that his client is on the verge of agreeing a new one-year deal with the Serie A giants that will put an end to any interest in the player from the likes of Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester City, according to reports on talkSPORT.co.uk.

The Spain-born attacker has enjoyed a hugely impressive debut campaign in front of goal in Serie A with the Romans, with Diao so far having managed to register five goals and seven assists in total in his 28 matches in all competitions for Lazio, including an equally eyecatching four strikes and three assists in his 20 top-flight outings for the club.

And as a result, the Senegalese’s form in front of goal has now resulted in his employers in the Italian capital wanting to reward their young star with a 12-month contract extension, a move that would also result in warding off any potential interest in Diao from any potential suitors from abroad.

Currently Diao, 19, is contracted to Lazio until June 2017, however, if the player can now be tied down to Lazio for one more year, then the likes of both Liverpool and City will have to shift their attacking focus elsewhere this summer instead.

“We are very close, I see no difficulty. We need to fix the little things, but in reality it is just bureaucracy. The renewal will be signed after Easter, the deal was never in doubt, it was always very smooth,” Ulisse Savini told Radio Mana Mana.
