The England international was forced to exit the Merseyside giants previous home fixture in the top flight, their massive 3-2 win over third-placed Manchester City, midway through the second half complaining of feeling tightness in his hamstring.

However, after sitting out the Reds’ subsequent league match against struggling Norwich City at Carrow Road, again another 3-2 win for Brendan Rodgers’s in-form outfit that maintained their lead at the top of the table, Sturridge is now in line to return against his former club this weekend in a match-up that could ultimately go a long way towards deciding the destiny of this season’s title.
