Arsenal target Javi Martinez is ready to push for an Allianz Arena exit after becoming frustrated with his limited role in Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich set-up.

Football Direct News claim that the 25 year old Spanish international wants to leave Bavaria and this could in turn lead to Arsene Wenger making a fresh move for a player he missed out on back in the summer of 2012.

Wenger had wanted to bring in Martinez when he was at Athletic Bilbao but was unwilling to meet his £35m release clause, a fee that Bayern Munich were happy to fork out, now the Gunners boss could look to make another push to capture the tough tackler.

Martinez had a solid first season at Bayern Munich where he helped Jupp Heynckes to a treble in his final season in charge, and the rangy midfielder was particularly influential in the club’s Champions League winning campaign.

However this term Martinez has been restricted to just 13 Bundesliga starts and could be interested by a possible move to the Premier League, though Barcelona are also said to be eyeing him up.

With Mikel Arteta failing to impress this term and Mathieu Flamini being in and out of Wenger’s starting eleven a move to bring in Martinez would offer Arsenal some much needed steel in the centre of the park.
