Former Argentina legend Diego Maradona has jumped to the defence of fellow controversial South American star Luis Suarez following his four month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini.

Suarez was handed a nine-game suspension for Uruguay on Thursday after FIFA found him guilty of biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during La Celeste’s 1-0 win on Tuesday.
The ban will also include a four-month layoff from any football activity, meaning he will miss out on 13 of Liverpool’s games next term.
However, he does have support in the shape of Diego Maradona, who appeared on Argentinian TV show Varksy Sports wearing a homemade t-shirt which read “Luis Suarez isn’t to blame.”
