St Mary’s side chase Feyenoord striker.

Check in to Netherlands vs Mexico

Though much of the summer thus far has surrounded talk of a Southampton exodus, which has of course already began in earnest, incoming boss Ronald Koeman does seem keen to bring in new additions to help put his stamp on the squad he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino and will look to make Feyenoord forward Graziano Pelle his first signing as Saints boss according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutchman knows the Italian well from his time managing the De Kuip side, with the 28 year old Italian scoring 50 goals in two seasons at the Rotterdam side, and may feel that the powerful forward could be an ideal replacement for Rickie Lambert following his move to Liverpool earlier this summer.

Newly promoted Leicester City are also pursuing Pelle but one imagines that Koeman’s relationship with the player would aid his push to bring the striker to St Mary’s.

As well as losing Lambert Southampton has also sold Luke Shaw to Man United and appear likely to lose midfielder Adam Lallana so fans of the south-coast side will hope that a significant portion of the funds made from player sales is handed to Koeman to re-invest in his squad.
